JuJu Smith-Schuster was born to Sammy and Sammy Toa Schuster. JuJu father, who is of Samoan descent, passed away when JuJu was only four years old. His mother, who is of African-American descent, raised him and his two older siblings in Long Beach, California.
JuJu, as he is popularly known, played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) before he was drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
JuJu attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he played football and ran track. JuJu was a three-sport athlete, playing football, basketball, and track.
