 The lobbying activities she was involved in were cited as a possible source of conflict of interests for her husband. Later, she was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Hannity’s Fox News program Hannity in June of 2010. But, Liberty Central later stopped operations in the year 2012.

2016-2021

At the time of 2016’s Republican Party presidential primaries, Ginni supported Ted Cruz. Then, she backed Donald Trump after he won the Republican nomination. She also served on the advisory committee for Turning Point USA. Thomas is known due to her controversial social media posts. The Washington Post wrote that she shared “nakedly partisan, erroneous propaganda”. 

Thomas is a member of the conservative group known as the Groundswell group. According to a February, 2020 article written by Jonathan Swan in Axios, she has actively encouraged Trump to change his personnel within his administration.

 Swan said that she’d provided Trump an email with the names of individuals suggested to him by the Groundswell network. Trump was later able to select Thomas as one of the trustees on Trust Fund Board of Library of Congress on May 28th and May 28, 2020.

Thomas was on Facebook in January 2021 to support the protest which eventually led to the storming of the U.S. Capitol building. The Washington Post later reported The Washington Post that following the incident, she offered her regrets over contributing to the rift within the crowd on the private email LISTSERV for the law clerks who her husband’s ex-husband worked for.

 A year after the incident, fact-checkers once again disproved claims that she had orchestrated the events that took place on the 6th of January 2021. Virginia later told that the Washington Free Beacon that she was at on the Stop the Steal rally that preceded the U.S. Capitol attack but went home before Trump making his appearance at noon.

2022

A second text exchange in the text between Virginia with White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows from 2020 was given by the Select Committee on the January 6 Attack in March 2022. The texts contain her repeatedly asking Meadows to invalidate the outcome of the presidential election in 2020 and repeatedly reiterating conspiracy theories about voter fraud. 

Virginia demanded for conspiracy theorist lawyer Sidney Powell be retained by the Trump campaign’s efforts to rewrite the results of the 2020 election. It was later discovered that U.S. House Select Committee regarding the January 6 Attack was looking into whether to bring her to be a witness in the course of its investigation.
