After spending a considerable amount of time in South Africa, David decided to move to the United States. There, he pursued higher education and got to launch his career.

In 1997, young Friedberg went to the University of California, Berkeley. He studied astrophysics. He earned his bachelor’s degree in 2001 and immediately worked on his business pursuits.

After graduating from college, Friedberg worked at the investment bank Broadview International for over two years. In 2003, Friedberg became an investor at Concert Capital Partners. David left the company in 2004 to be one of the earliest executives in Google.

While working there, David formed a close bond with the tech company’s co-founder Larry Page. David Friedberg left Google in 2006 to found The Climate Corporation. Their objective is to use digital tools to help farmers throughout the world enhance production in a sustainable way.

It was a massive success, and it was acquired by agricultural biotechnology firm Monsanto in 2013 for $1 billion. David Friedberg continued to serve as CEO but eventually left in 2015.

Before leaving The Climate Corporation, he established the insurance company Metromile in 2011. Since then, he served as the company’s chairman. He was also chosen as chairman of Northern Quinoa Production Corporation and Pattern Ag.

In 2017, David Friedberg started The Production Board. This became his continued endeavor to improve the status of the Earth. He went on to become a board member of various organizations in 2019, including Triplebar Bio, Tillable, and UR Labs. Before this, he was a board member of Soylent.

In the same year, he became the executive chairman of Cana, which makes groundbreaking 3D-printed beverages. He also joined the panel of the All-In Podcast with fellow entrepreneurs Chamath Palihapitiya, Jason Calacanis, and David Sacks.
